The new appointee steps into the role of studio head at the development studio following the exit of previous head Michael Condrey, who was reportedly let go due to Project Ethos' lackluster early showing last autumn.
On Wednesday, the company's top executive a key figure updated staff about this strategic move through an official communication, which stressed that early feedback sessions had revealed the requirement for a distinct direction.
The president expressed that the developers is now reimagining the project with a renewed vision, aiming to better meet gamer demands.
Trend of Key Hires
This announcement follows a similar step taken by 2K Games in the summer, when they hired an industry veteran from the Diablo team to contribute to the BioShock studio Cloud Chamber.
Here is the complete text from Ismailer's memo:
Dear Team—
I know you all just completed your meeting - I hope you’re as thrilled as I am with the good news. Previously I sent you all a message, I mentioned the following: “I believe in this team. You all are some of the most driven and creative developers we have had the pleasure to work with - and we’re eager for that relationship to endure.”
Given your hard work and flexibility, particularly over the past twelve months, you repeatedly show that.
The gamer responses from last fall’s Project ETHOS playtest was informative. It confirmed the promise of a action-packed game but indicated we still had refinements needed. It revealed the requirement for a clearer brand.
It has been motivating to see how far you’ve advanced. You embraced the criticism to heart and revamped the title with a renewed vision - one that’s poised to deliver on its promise to our fans.
The trust in Project ETHOS grows every day. To boost the outstanding progress you’ve made, I am thrilled to welcome Ben Brinkman as the incoming Director of the team. Following several months of conversations, he officially joins us on the specified date.
Ben’s guidance and expertise in the competitive gaming genre is vast, having dedicated the past decade and a half producing and managing some of the most popular titles in the industry, for example the acclaimed shooter, and lately, Apex Legends.
Please join me in greeting Ben soon. We are all eager to continue seeing the evolution of Project ETHOS in the time to follow.
The President

Title Information and Vision
Project Ethos was revealed in last year together with a community playtest. At the time, the developers presented the title as a "no-cost, third-person perspective action-packed experience and an exciting step forward on the category."
"Create your ideal gameplay session—or face defeat—in this engaging over-the-shoulder adventure! Customize your character in real-time to suit your personal playstyle," the official summary explains. "Take on the opponents with unique powers, risks, and tests that evolve every session. Do you safely extract with your collected items? Alternatively take a risk, gamble everything, and trust your team can secure victory? The decision is yours."
Project Ethos does not have an official release date or consoles, but players can expect further news as creation progresses.
