The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Pits The Beloved Duo Against a Tablet Computer
It has been 30 years since the first Toy Story film was released, launching Pixar as a major animation studio and introducing audiences to beloved figures like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed this week, providing a glimpse into the storyline but leaving fans curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang
The preview shows Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — receiving a brand new plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the toys appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer doesn't touch on is what Woody is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a fair and assisting giveaway items find good homes.
Surely, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with Woody. And where is the stuntman toy (the star)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), leaving her as the leader of the toy domain. The clip shows the insignia pinned to her outfit.
Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the toys.
